Name: Denkou

Species: Oina

Gender: Female

Character Type: Human/Wild Animal

Age (in human years): 20

Age (as a wolf): Around 2

Town/Area of Origin: Wep'Keer in Kamui

Appearance:
Human - Denkou is probably the only Oina who doesn't wear her mask over her face, revealing her bright blue eyes and matching marks on her face. Her canine mask is now located on her head, as though it were a hat. Denkou has grown out of her old Oina garments, and now wears a white shirt, usually pulled down off her shoulders as she is sensitive to heat (growing up in a snowy place like Kamui will do that to you). Underneath, her wrap prevents anything inappropriate from being revealed. Her hakama pants are electric blue with a pale yellow lightning pattern across near the bottom. Aside from this is the Thunder Sash, draped over her shoulders and hanging down her back.

Wolf - Denkou appears as a white wolf with blue ears and markings. The area around her eyes is blue, with marks underneath, and lines of color stretching down to her nose. Blue also runs down her sides and underneath her arms and lets. Her tail and legs also have a similar line of color encircling them. On her paws are tufts of blue fur, and all of her toes are the same bright hue. The only things dark about her are her nose and claws. The rest is either white, bright blue, or a pale yellow. In her wolf form, Denkou also appears to be wrapped in blue lightning. This is the raw power of the Thunder Sash.

Personality: Denkou has always been the type to charge ahead fearlessly. She craves action and adventure and hates it when there’s nothing she can do. Not so say she has a short attention span, but Denkou can’t sit still for a minute. She is best defined when she is in motion, when she is doing something. Action is virtually her entire being. Her favorite type of action? Battle. Especially recently now that evil is stirring again in the world. Denkou, while currently without too many longstanding friends thanks to her frequent travels, is fiercely loyal to those she trusts. The only thing that surpasses her loyalty is her sense of right and wrong. If something is not right, if the situation is not equal, Denkou will take it upon herself to fix things, even if it’s none of her business. Thusly, this had led some to label her a “buttinski” or just plain annoying. Despite that, she is very steadfast (or stubborn, rather) when it comes to her ideals and beliefs. She rarely ever calls her values into question, which does bring up conflicts with others who are equally stubborn, at times. This rarely gets her down, though, as Denkou is unusually upbeat. She tries to be cheerful about most things, even if it’s not how she really feels. Her long travels have given her a sense of independence, and she refuses to let anyone else suffer just because she has issues.

History: Originally Denkou is of Oina descent, as is evident by the mask which, though she never wears over her face, she never lets go of. She was born alongside the rest of the Oina, but left them of her own will once she was old enough. Her appetite for adventure could never have been sated staying in the snowy northern region of Kamui. So she left behind her childhood friends and went out into the world. It was in that wide world which she’d never known of before that she heard the legend of the Thunder Sash, the electric blue ribbon which she wears just as consistently as her canine mask. The sash was said to have once belonged to Gekigami himself, but Denkou had a hard time seeing a strong and powerful brush god in the form of a tiger using such a flimsy, feminine weapon. For a young Oina woman, though, she thought it would fit just fine. So she went after it. It took her quite some time to track down, but finally she found it in a temple that had been errected in Gekigami's honor. Denkou was sure to pray to the brush god, and thank him for the "gift" before taking it, reasoning that surely if the Thunder Sash was stored in an old temple as it was, no one really needed it. It is Denkou's aquisition of this weapon which has sparked the legend of a Raiju, or an animal that can control lightning, patrolling the land of Nippon and protecting its people from monsters in the name of Gekigami. True enough, Denkou saves anyone she comes across who is in need of it, but she is no god, nor the messiah of one. Ever since raiding the temple, though she has prayed to the God of Lightning before each fight, for strength, and thanked him after each victory.

First encounter with the evil force: Denkou's first encounter with the mysterious, evil force came not too terribly long ago. Durring one of the Dark Storms, Denkou nearly fell into the hole from which the Others were coming! At first, she hadn't even seen a hole; she thought she would have been stepping onto solid ground. But perhaps it was that one foot that came into contact with the strange portal that woke Denkou up to what was really going on. All of a sudden, she could see these strange creatures, and she could actually see the hole down which she'd nearly fallen. As an Oina, her instincts were sharper than a normal humans, and her feeling about these strange new beings were decidedly bad. Acting on that instinct, she began to fight them, taking them out with the Thunder Sash. From that point on, she began sniffing out these portals, and she soon found that she could find them fairly easily by the disruption the Earth's natrual magnetic force experienced whenever a dimensional hole was created. When Huntain appeared, Denkou decided to do what she did best and explore it. Once again, her instincts and her sense of electricity and magnetic forces were telling her something important; that the new land was somehow connected to the Others.

Alignment: Good

Fighting Style:
Human - Denkou fights with a weapon called the Thunder Sash which she has picked up in her travels. It allows her a certain control over electricity in the air. She cannot create energy from nothing, but she can direct it. As a result, she's come to love stoms, and she can even predict them to an extent because she can feel the static electricity in the air building. Denkou can also use the Thunder Sash to create magnetic fields, sort of like an electromagnet. Before she had the Thunder Sash, Denkou was trained to fight with duel kodachi. She still carries the blades with her, and will occasionally use them like lightning rods in battle, but she still mostly fights with the Thunder Sash.

Wolf - In her wolf form, the power of the Thunder Sash is much more primal and raw. It actually bursts into blue lightning when she changes forms, and remains that way until she changes back, when it becomes a simple, electric blue ribbon again. When in her wolf form, Denkou doesn't have to worry about finding a power source because of the accessibility of the energy that the raw power of the Thunder Sash provides. In this form, though, she also uses her fangs and claws to fight if lightning isn't the best way to attack a certain enemy.

Special Ability: Like all Oina, Denkou has the ability to shift between her human form and a wolf form. Other than that, her only noteworthy talent is her unusual flexibility, which she gained in her free time in Kamui as she practiced stretching herself in odd ways to amuse her friends or disturb the adults of the village.

Other: (Since there's no one playing Oki to ask if this is alright, I figured there shouldn't be any problems. Let me know if I should remove this part.) When Denkou was still living in Wep'Keer, she was very close to Oki. She thought of him as a brother and a teacher, and the two of them would often spar together in order to improve their skills.
